THE FILM

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

This project was born in 2013 when Norma Braunbreck, Martin Negri's mother, gave me access to more than 500 hours of personal and work recordings Martin had been taping on his cell phone between 2009 and 2012. After Martin's death we established a relation with his mother, when I testified at their trial over work harassment against the State. After she watched my first film, Norma gave me access to all this material that included emails, pictures and videos, in hopes that it would raise awareness to the cause.

MISSION

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENTS.

I met Martin Negri when he was in a very unclear employment situation due to years of conflict with the Environmental Control Agency where he worked. It had been a while since he had been assigned new tasks, yet he was never formally fired. When I met Martin I understood his commitment to the environmental cause. He was the only person to close down Petrobras's refining plant in many occasions during the course of past years. He used to be recognized by many districts for his hard work before his confrontation with this administration. Martin provided me with very valuable information to expose Petrobras in court and how it had been operating under expired licenses over the years, which lead to its closure. Unfortunately Martin was unable to see this happen as he took a very drastic and altruist decision. He probably understood that, by doing so, his cause and every other environmental cause involving this particular administration would be noticed, an administration that run since 2007 and didn't last long, presumably as a result of Martin's complaints and due to his final decision.

To raise awareness to this cause and this story is my own personal statement.
